In March 2020, many theaters around the world were producing plays as usual, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. In order to prioritize the safety of their communities, these theaters made the difficult decision to cease or postpone programming for the remainder of their seasons. However, they did not give up there. Instead, with a spirit of resilience, adaptation, and invitation, they joined forces to create the Play At Home project. This project features a series of short plays commissioned specifically for this moment of unprecedented isolation, aimed to inspire joy and connection for all.
"Nothing To Wipe With" centers around Perla, who is in the final stages of her 911 dispatcher training. Her evaluator is Terry, an experienced dispatcher who is well aware of the challenges that come with the job, especially during times of quarantine.
During a non-emergency call, the situation quickly spirals out of control, and Perla must overcome her lack of self-confidence and demonstrate that she has what it takes to be a dispatcher.
